on this site
"Hoofin' It Online", the website of
the Wellington Area Trail Riding Club (WATRC), is hoofin' it over to
Google Sites.
If you've bookmarked / favourited / linked to this page, please update your
bookmark / favourite / link.
This change is happening because the Wellington City Council has withdrawn
funding for the Wellington Community
Network, and the WCN will cease to provide free website and email
hosting for community groups at the end of June 2010. At that time, the WCN
incarnation of our website will simply cease to exist.
However, in the last few weeks, we've been migrating our site to
Google Sites, a free
website hosting platform provided by Google, and we think it's time to start
getting you to use it.
Our main pages on WCN will soon include a link to their equivalent page on
our Google site, and
very shortly we'll also update the side bar of the WCN site so that those
links also take you to our new site. The look and
feel of the new site is very similar to this one, but there are some
differences where we are confined by some limitations of
Google Sites, or where
we've taken advantage of some features not otherwise available. In some
cases we've simply tried to minimise the labour of migration by choosing not
to reproduce old pages, but all relevant content has been migrated and is
available.
News and
Results from
past seasons no longer have dedicated pages organised by season -
instead the files are simply made available for download from a file
repository and are listed alphabetically by venue name
Photos from
past seasons no longer have dedicated pages organised by season -
instead we've used the "Collections" feature of Flickr to organise the
photos. If you open the collection for a given season, you'll find the set
names identify the rides
Our Contacts page
now uses Gmail (Google Mail) addresses for club office holders
Our Blog continues at this time
to be hosted by Blogger.com
If you find broken or misleading links on the new
site, please contact
the WATRC Webmaster so that we can fix it.
